Dreaming Big, With A Creepy Bondage Tarot

BF-TarotGothica-ReadingThis week, I decided to use my Dream Big, Plan Small spread, along with the Tarot Gothica (Schiffer, 2015).

The idea is to choose one card for the best and biggest thing you can achieve, though as a reading for the week I’ve interpreted it “smaller” than I would if this were about my life’s purpose, for instance.

Next, you choose three cards to represent small steps you can take towards that goal.  Here, it’s good to interpret these as “small” as possible, even ridiculously small.  You want these plans to be really easily achievable.  That way, you will actually do them, and build up some forward momentum!

Dream Big – The Lovers

An female angel is held up by a woman, the two about to kiss.  Around them is an icy landscape, though there is bright blossom on the trees to either side.

While a somewhat odd image, it makes me think about choices.  Others may not understand our choices, our environment may seem hostile towards them.  Yet, it is still important to act from our hearts, to choose what delights us rather than just what cold logic dictates.  This way lies new growth, the fruits of our labours.
So, what can I do to make the right choices this week?

Plan Small – The World, Ten of Wands, Queen of Swords

The World tells me that cycles must end before new ones begin.  I need to complete some projects that have been on my table so that I am free to choose new directions.  That could just be sending a couple of emails that have been “due” for a few days…
The Ten of Wands is rather more menacing than normal.  Still, I see in her bound figure someone who has let herself get tied up by the insidious creep of obligations.  When other people ask me to help out with something this week, I have permission to “Just say no!” ?
As for the Queen of Swords, she is very rational about things.  She will weigh up the pros and cons of things, cut through to the heart of the matter, and make logical choices, while keeping in mind the underlying emotional direction needed.  So, any decisions that come my way, I need to hold both logic and emotion in mind when making my choices.
Finish things up, say no to stuff from others that doesn’t serve my goal, and do both in a rational yet compassionate manner.  Okay!

  • What a great spread Chloe and yes, saying “no” isn’t something that comes natural for a lot of us. Luckily you’ll have the Queen of Swords on your side this week 😀

    • Ha, yes, she’s definitely pretty good at that, Ellen! How come we both have a good dose of Queen of Swords, yet seem to have missed that talent? Ah well, practice makes a bit better 😀

  • I met some incognito bondage people online once. They delighted in shocking people, in thinking that they were dark and different. I found them sadly, emotionally crippled, constantly seeking attention like children. A bit like shopaholics in trying to get the jolt, the new thing.

I like that 10 of Wands though, it’s pretty with the Wand-y leaves, and I rather like the suggestion of menace for a change. Some of the others look like caricature rather than archetype. It’s similar to when you draw, if you aren’t careful you draw symbols rather than what is actually there.

Oh well, takes all kinds, right?
